Gareth Malone

"Choirs are my passion and have been all my life ..."
Anybody who starts by saying "Choirs are my passion and have been all my life" gets my immediate approving attention.
I greatly admire Gareth Malone's work popularising choral music and really enjoyed watching this superb documentary from the Beeb's about "how choirs work" presented by him .
In it Malone presents a lot of information about choirs and choral singing, conducting, and composing with clarity, affection, and respect. I've uploaded this for educational purposes but don't let the word "educational" put you off, this is no dull and worthy documentary it's fresh, vivid, and very enjoyable - much like a choir's singing after Malone has got his hands on them in fact. Enjoy :-)

Gareth recently revealed that he too will be on stage in costume with the Youth Opera Company, although he wasn’t prepared to tell us what he would be wearing.

This year The BBC Interview invites choirmaster, presenter and populariser of choral singing, Gareth Malone to join them for an exclusive interview. Explore Gareth's extraordinary rise to fame, and hear how his passion for music has reignited interest in choral music through the BAFTA and RTS award-winning BBC 2 series The Choir. His 2011 follow-up series The Choir: Military Wives led Gareth to not only beat the annual X Factor winner's single to Christmas Number 1, but the single is the most pre-ordered music item of all time on Amazon in the UK.

Gareth Malone
(Gareth Malone)
